Questioning who Jesus is?

Who is Jesus to you, Who is Jesus in your life

Whenever You Question Who Jesus Is to You, You Undermine Your Confidence and Faith in the Lord.

And John calling to him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Are you he that should come? or should we look for another?” Luke 7: 19

But wait a second…Isn’t he the same John who prophesied who Jesus was?

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.” John 1:29-30

John was preaching that this is the Messiah. It’s Him. And now when he is in prison, He is not sure if He is really the one.

Why Did John Start Questioning Who Jesus Is Even When He Preached “This is the Messiah”?

He began questioning only because he was in prison.

He may have been expecting Jesus to show up miraculously and get him out of that situation right away.

Did you notice that John prepared the way for the same Jesus and now he is confused and doubtful about Him?

Interestingly, when John’s disciples came to Jesus, He didn’t give them any Biblical reason to prove that He is the Messiah. He just said, go tell John what you see and hear.

So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor." Luke 7:22

Here’s What Jesus Expects Us to Do When We Are In a Situation Similar to John’s

He asked John, look here John, stop looking at what I’m not doing.

What was Jesus not doing in John’s situation?

Not releasing John from the prison there and then.

Here’s the thing.

Whenever we feed ourselves with what God hasn’t done, we undermine our own confidence and faith in the Lord.

We don’t see how God is moving on our behalf but we want Him to release us the way we want.

And we keep a record...

All the time our mind is filled with the thoughts… “This didn’t happen”? “That didn’t work out.

You might not realize, but such thought patterns demonstrate you are not focusing on what Jesus I doing for you.

Above all, it defines how you think about God. “Man, I hope it works this time. It didn’t work the last time, so I’m not sure if it will work this time.

Equip Yourself With the Authority of Scripture to Remember Who Jesus is In Your Life

In a difficult situation, most of the time, everything you pray is modeled out of experience instead of out of the authority of scriptures.

When John went into a challenging situation in his life, he started questioning who Jesus was.

I suggest you don’t do that.

Because if you do, it clearly shows your unbelief. It fuels your lack of confidence in God.

To come out of your dark situation, you have to focus on Jesus. You need to take the authority that Jesus exercised when Satan came to Him in the wilderness.

It is written… Remember?

When you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, you will feel joy and peace in every situation.

Because the time you’ll spend in His presence wouldn’t be just a one-way communication that never goes beyond your huge prayer list. But you will be asking Jesus to come into your specific situation.
